Woody, Soft, and Clean
The aroma is deeply woody and has a powdery/marshmallow-y softness. The wood reminds me of redwood lumber. The liquor is sweet on the mid-palate like raw licorice root and is extraordinarily smooth.
Later steeps have a dry sensation deep in the throat and yet this tea is not astringent in the least.
Like most shou I don’t find it changes much throughout the steep. They generally lack the dynamic variety of oolongs experienced within a session.
The chaqi is mild yet deep and relaxing. It seems to rise into the chest and then settle in the forehead.
