Zi Tao - The purple pottery
- with more than 900 years history going as far as
Song Dynasty (about 900-1279AD ) , Jianshui was known
as Qing porcelain. Since Qing Dynasty people started to make
purple pottery in many different ways like pots, vases, jars, tea-sets, tableware, etc.
The most famous is pot called "ji guo" - chicken pot, which is the special funel in the middle for steaming / cooking chicken.
Jianshui clay can be found in different colors , such as red, yellow, gray, blue with white. , Jianshui pottery belong in top four potteries in China.

Traditionally 3 days wood fired in dragon kiln , big teacup " cha wan " with hand carved Dai features. It naturally occurs that pottery doesn't have one uniformed color ( imprints from the flames ) as the temperature inside of this traditional kiln vary ( not as in modern ones , where air circulation is controlled by fans and therefore even temperature ).
Hand made 72ml cup by Dai pottery Master Qiu. Not traditional design / concept of Dai pottery cup. Very porous and rough rim around the cup. Ash glazing technique applied. Mixture of Xishuangbanna ( Ganlanba ) with Menghai clay and send from banks of Lancang river in order to achieve porosity. Cup is not perfect circle!

It does take 3 days in wood fired dragon kiln and some non-sleeping nights for master to create this beautiful piece of Dai pottery. It naturally occurs that pottery doesn't have one uniformed color as the temperature inside of this traditional kiln vary ( not as in modern ones , where air circulation is controlled by fans and therefore even temperature ).
