Xia guan Tuo Cha (下关沱茶)
Xia Guan Tuo Cha ,also named Yunnan Tuo Cha that has origin from the Ming Dynasty. It is one of compressed forms of Pu Er Tea, usually it`s smaller than pu-erh tea cake, that is easily to carry to anywhere, therefore it had been popular during the Ancient
Tea Route. Xiaguan Tuo Cha is known as high quality tea with long history and typical intensive Cha Qi with smoky flavor.
Sheng pu-erh from Xiaguan pressed into the 250g brick without any wrapping, 5 bricks in the paper pack. If buy single brick we wrap it into the paper bag for you. Typically smokey notes in taste but more fruity backround than the younger ( 2017) version we also have. This is also contributed by different storage which was in north of China.
This is a typical Xiaguan tuocha ,where the bright golden tea color liqour is slightly bitter-astringent taste, distinctive smoky flavor accompanied by dark chocolate notes with slightly sweet after-taste .
Pleasant taste of selected top grade tea material and pressed tuo from Xiaguan company well balanced with light smokey notes and sweet mouth feel after. Very good daily drinker for reasonable price or decent candidate for storage if u manage to resist and not drink it for few years. Small pieces of "ma ti" might suggest that small arbors are also involved.
"You will be eating smoked sausage" as mouth sensation appears like with the first infusion from this hard pressed tuo cha. Meaty flavor will fade away with 2nd steep and persistent typical smoky flavor is accompanied by gentle sweetness. Noticeably bitter but not astringent tea liquor will gain on sweetness if you play around with brewing time.
Shu pu-erh from Xiaguan company made for Tibetan people. Despite of traditional xiaguan tea processing , this tea is missing classical smokey notes. Teh tea soup is red clean and sweet. Since its still considered as a new tea , some very slight notes of "dui wei" can be noticed. But it wouldn't be disturbing your drinking session.
Xiaguan sheng pu-erh tea 200g brick made for export to Tibet was stored in Sichuan province. Typical smokey notes with woody texture and slightly sour-sweet taste. Touch of wild mushrooms in combination with pine tree comes out of the gaiwan and tells you about balanced storage , not too dry / wet.
quite bitter with the first two infusions but slight sweetness comes after second-third brewing and so as color. Its a good daily drinker for decent price.
A little bit pricey jubilee edition of tuo cha from Xiaguan tea company. The not " fresh " taste of well settled sheng pu-erh is the sign of mixture 4 past years tea material, so technically speaking could be 2013-2017 sheng puerh tuo cha. Bitter ,sweet, woody and not really smokey , would be the main characteristics of the dark gold liquid in your cup...
Sheng pu-erh from Xiaguan company made for Tibetan monks. Pressed tuo in traditional mushroom shape gives clean golden color tea soup which is rich bitter and sweet aftertaste . As typical for this tea , also slight smoky notes are in present but not that heavy. Still young tea suitable for storage but also pleasant to drink now.
In very flashy green box packed new model of tuo cha from Xiaguan as the remake of the old packaging. Smoky & sweet tea liquor holds for few good infusions. Pleasant "sheng jing" buzzing after 3rd cup with nice warming body feel after.
